Dental Implants
At Pacific Coast Dental, we think dental implants are one of today’s most exciting approaches for replacing teeth. Dr. Acosta is wildly enthusiastic about this technology, investing in extensive training and tools to make the dental implant process better. Because this tooth replacement option is the closest thing to a natural tooth in structure, we think tooth implants are the gold standard for solving the problem of one or numerous missing teeth.
We intend to be your one-stop shop for dental implants. We use CT cone beam x-rays and digital scanners to take ultra-precise, three-dimensional imagery of your entire facial structure because healthy bone structure is vital. If you have barriers to receiving a dental implant, our goal is to remove those barriers so you can enjoy the benefits of this highly effective dental procedure.
The Parts of a Dental Implant
To mimic a natural tooth, your dental implant is placed one section at a time. The part that Dr. Acosta surgically implants is called the implant screw or artificial root. This thin, threaded rod is made from titanium because it’s biocompatible, meaning your body won’t reject its implantation. Then, using our precise plans for your mouth, we place this artificial in your jaw, and the bone grows around it in a natural process called osseointegration.
After your artificial root is fully healed, Dr. Acosta can supply the connection point between the artificial root and the final restoration. This attachment, called the implant abutment, comes in many forms to support multiple uses. For example, your abutment can support a single-tooth replacement or an appliance that replaces multiple missing teeth.
The Benefits of Choosing Pacific Coast Dental as Your Implant Dentist
Beyond our investment in the technology and training necessary to supply dental implants, you have several other reasons for selecting us for your new dental implants. Here are just a few:
- Full-service – The dental implant process can be complicated, and receiving all necessary services in one place is more manageable. From planning to implantation, we also provide bone grafts if your jawbone needs reinforcement and your final restoration using our CEREC technology.
- Experience – Dr. Acosta has placed dozens of dental implants and takes every opportunity to enrich his training so that every replacement can be entirely successful.
- Expansion – Because dental implants can support many teeth replacement options, our dental office will soon offer all-on-four implant-retained dentures and bridges.
Why You Should Replace Missing Teeth
Many people believe that the biggest issue with missing teeth is the gaps in your smile. However, certain teeth have a role in speech, so losing them may create a speech impediment. In addition, if you’ve lost a back tooth, your ability to enjoy a full range of healthy food may be impaired.
Other problems with missing teeth are:
- Adjacent teeth shift toward the gap
- Remaining teeth shoulder too much chewing load
- Jawbone structure diminishes from lack of chewing pressure
The worst consequence of missing teeth is additional tooth loss and a downward spiral that might cost you dearly in the long run.
